Radio planning engineer: A radio planning engineer is an expert responsible for designing and optimising wireless communication networks, such as mobile phone networks, Wi-Fi networks or emergency communication networks. The aim is to ensure optimum radio coverage, high quality of service and efficient use of spectrum resources.
His main responsibilities include:
- Network design: Developing plans for the layout of base stations and communications equipment to provide effective coverage of a specific geographical area;
- Analysis and optimisation: Evaluate the existing networks performance, identify areas of insufficient coverage or interference, and propose improvements to optimise service quality;
- Modelling and simulation: Using tools and software to simulate the network behaviour in different scenarios to predict changes or new installations impact;
- Spectrum resource management: planning and managing radio frequencies allocation to avoid interference and maximise the use of available spectrum;
- Coordination and compliance: working with other teams and complying with local and international wireless regulations;
- Documentation and reporting: Preparing technical reports and documenting network configurations and modifications.
Radio planning engineers play a crucial role in the design of high-performance, reliable communications networks, taking into account technical requirements and environmental constraints.
