RADIO FREQUENCY PLANNING ENGINEER

Radio planning engineer: A radio planning engineer is an expert responsible for designing and optimising wireless communication networks, such as mobile phone networks, Wi-Fi networks or emergency communication networks. The aim is to ensure optimum radio coverage, high quality of service and efficient use of spectrum resources.

His main responsibilities include:

  1. Network design: Developing plans for the layout of base stations and communications equipment to provide effective coverage of a specific geographical area;
  2. Analysis and optimisation: Evaluate the existing networks performance, identify areas of insufficient coverage or interference, and propose improvements to optimise service quality;
  3. Modelling and simulation: Using tools and software to simulate the network behaviour in different scenarios to predict changes or new installations impact;
  4. Spectrum resource management: planning and managing radio frequencies allocation to avoid interference and maximise the use of available spectrum;
  5. Coordination and compliance: working with other teams and complying with local and international wireless regulations;
  6. Documentation and reporting: Preparing technical reports and documenting network configurations and modifications.

Radio planning engineers play a crucial role in the design of high-performance, reliable communications networks, taking into account technical requirements and environmental constraints.

Mission

Optimise radio spectrum use to ensure effective coverage, reduce interference and comply with regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Frequency planning: Designing frequency plans for radio networks, taking into account coverage, capacity and quality of service requirements;
  • Interference analysis: Assessing and mitigating interference between different systems and frequency bands;
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring frequency plans complying with local and international standards and regulations;
  • Optimisation: Adjust frequency parameters to optimise network performance and signal quality;
  • Coordination: Working with other departments, such as deployment and maintenance teams, to integrate frequency plans into ongoing projects;
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of frequency allocations, plans and adjustments.

Skills :

  • In-depth knowledge of frequency planning techniques and simulation tools;
  • Expertise in interference analysis and radio network optimisation;
  • Knowledge of radio frequency standards and regulations;
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in telecommunications engineering, radio frequency or related field;
  • Previous experience in radio frequency planning or similar role (desirable);
  • Knowledge of simulation and frequency management software.
